Time has gotten away from me since the start of the year and I haven’t really felt like writing. I’ve had a few posts planned for a while now but just haven’t had the motivation to finish them, which is frustrating because I’ve wanted to post more. To try and get myself back into the swing of it I’d thought I’d do a quick catch-up post about some of the things that I’ve been up to over the last 6 months to cover my gap of absence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Back in January I went to see both Cai Guo-Qiang<\/a> and California Design<\/a> exhibitions at GOMA and QAG. I was lucky enough to go and see both twice, once by myself and another with a friend. I took my camera to take pictures of the exhibitions but I forgot to charge to battery so excuse these phone quality images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cai Guo-Qiang exhibit may have only contained four art pieces but they were definitely something to behold because of their large scale. It was really something to be able to walk around the Heritage <\/em><\/em>and Head On <\/em><\/em>installations, observing the details of the animal replicas while also viewing them overall as one piece of work. I also felt it was quite amicable<\/span> that two of the exhibition pieces were inspired by various Queensland landscapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the California design exhibition, I’m pretty sure I took a picture of almost everything on display because I fell in love with it all.  Particularly surprisingly was how much I enjoyed learning about the different experimentations in architecture and home design. I ended up buying a book about the homes that came out of the Case Study House program, which includes the well know Eames House<\/a>. The design innovations in this post WWII era were really remarkable and I’m glad I got the chance to go and see the exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Places<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The boyfriend and I took the leap and bought ourselves a home! We finally have space to spread out after living so long in our small unit for the past two years. I’m particularly enjoying learning how to care for our vegetable and herb gardens which we are tending to over the weekends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also have my own little office which I’m slowly putting together. A lot of my books, pictures and other general stuff is still sitting at my parents house to pick up at some point. Now that I finally have a dedicated place to work in, I’m hoping I’ll be able to get more done moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can’t believe I’m 25. Time has flown by so fast, it’s actually kinda scary. Not sure if I’m fully ready for all these responsibilities!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coming Up..<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I have a new post coming hopefully soon about the Brisbane Analogue\/Digital conference<\/a> which I able to attend on its 2nd day. It was my first time attending A\/D because usually it’s either been held down at  the Gold Coast or I haven’t been free to attend the Brisbane event. A very interesting and insightful day and all within the comfort of cushy movie theatre seats!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from new posts, I’ll also be travelling abroad in less than a month! We’ll be hitting up the UK and France which I’m very excited about because I’ve never had the chance to travel in Europe before. I’ll be sure to take lots of photos and write big blog posts about it all then :).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
