Despite the overcast weather and the urge to sleep in, I managed to pull myself out of bed on Sunday and head over to the Brisbane Finders Keepers Markets being held at the Old Museum. I’ve seen lots of people talking about their great finds and purchases at these markets online so I decided to go and check it out for myself.
Before I get onto the markets, can I just say how beautiful The Old Museum exterior is! Before I looked up where the venue for the markets was, I always thought this was a church. I really love the brick work layout with the contrasting reds and yellows as well as the lovely archways.

After I stopped staring at the lovely building, I went in to check out what was on offer at the market stalls. It’s wonderful to see so many beautiful creations from Australian artists and designers. I was pretty impressed with the quality of work too, nothing like some of the cheap items you find at other weekend markets these days. The stalls were set up throughout 3 studio rooms as well as along the main veranda used to access each room.

The markets also had a lower garden areas off to the side with a variety of food and drink tents as well as live music.

I didn’t buy much from my day out, just this cute little bird ornament by Sharon Muir that I couldn’t resist scooping up. I don’t have any place for him to sit at the moment though ^^;;. Does anyone know if there’s anything particular you put in the space on his back?

Also, I wanted to show off the new bow I bought the day before at Sportsgirl. I wore it to the markets, feeling very hipster, and fitted in well with the crowd. I even got a compliment from one of the stall owners ๐

The markets are held bi-annually (Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer) in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Check out their website to see when their next market is on and also look through their Designer Directory for a list of all the artists at each event.
