Supanova was back in Brisbane again last weekend with all the cosplay, comics, figures, plushies and talented artists you’d expect from this type of convention. We went through our usual routine of systematically checking out all the stalls before sitting down to watch wrestling and then afterwards grabbing lunch and buying some things for ourselves. We also also able to catch up with friends throughout the day as well! Here are some photos from the Sunday ๐

Supanova Brisbane 2016
It’s been interesting to see how Supanova Brisbane has changed and evolved over the years that I’ve attended. There are anime and game trends that come and go, the various venues (air con!) and the inclusion of new technologies, like VR.
That said, there has always been certain constant aspects of Supanova like the creative cosplay, the numerous figurine and comic booths, the talented artists and the special guests that are central to the convention’s pop culture composition.
Below are a few photos taken on the last day while we searched for sweet anime goods :).

We finished off the last weekend in November once again with Supanova Brisbane – three days filled with cosplay, art, gaming, comics, anime and overall creativity. I was able to attend on the final Sunday, spending most of it wandering around the stalls and looking for elusive figures to add to my collection all while running into friends along the way.
I once again took my camera along to catalogue some of the many sights from the day. I wish I had taken some more photos of the many awesome cosplayers!

Oz Comic Con was back in Brisbane again building upon last year’s convention with new star speakers, a large variety of exhibitors and game areas along with a range of creatives in Artist Alley. We went on the Saturday to see some of the Stargate actors, check out the main floor and for the first time watch one of the cosplay events. Here are some photos of the event!

My final convention for the year was of course Brisbane’s Supanova, now held at the much nicer Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. No more fighting the November heat, watching cosplayers melt away all while trying to manoeuvre through cramped spaces this time round. With the new fully enclosed venue, we stayed cool and shaded from the sun and enjoyed the convention’s new space. There were lots of regular vendors plus a few new ones and it was great to see so many well put-together cosplays. Below are my photos from the day ๐

Last Saturday we headed to the city to attend the first Brisbane Oz Comic Con! While our main goal of the day was to get the last of our SG-1 autographs from the lovely Chris Judge, we also wanted to check out how it fared against other Brisbane conventions (mainly Supanova LBR) and what the stalls had to offer in the form of precious loot! Photos of the event were of course taken to share just a slice of what I came across on the day ๐

It was great to be able to attend this years Brisbane Supanova on Saturday after being unable to come last year. Every time I go the weather seems to get hotter and the crowds seem to get bigger. There was also lots of cosplayers of course and I admire their efforts to wear full body costumes in the November heat! It’s interesting to see the trends within the community, lots of Batmans (batmen?) and Gotham related characters, Attack on Titan uniforms with full vertical maneuvering equipment and many more that made me realize I’m not up to date with some pop culture references *sigh*.
Anyway, here are my photos from the day!

Last weekend was Supanova‘s second Brisbane event for the year and my sister and I tagged along to get another dose of manga, figurines, cosplay and general nerdy stuff ^_^. Here are some of the photos from Saturday (warning: lots of pics!)
We arrived early this year to avoid the dreaded lines from last time to find that they changed up the system. If you get there early, you can pay for your entrance into the event, get a paper wrist band to prove you’re not sneaking in and then head into the courtyard area while you wait for the doors to open. You still have to eventually get into a line, which was quite long, but it seemed a lot more manageable and moved quickly. When we left around 11:30, the entrance area was now located out the front but the lines were really short. Good to see they’re improving the system ^_^.

Supa-stars, comic/anime stalls, card-games and cosplay galore, that’s what Supanova is all about. I know it’s been over a week since Supanova in Brisbane but I figured better late then never. For those of who not in the know, go and check out their site here.
The first time I heard about Supanova was way back when I was in high school and my then-boyfriend told me about this ‘convention with anime’, so of course I was immediately interested. This is the 3rd time I’ve been and while we didn’t see any supa-star guests this year, I think we still had a great time despite a few hiccups.
